Sharing a printer with Win7 PC
« on: September 01, 2010, 06:55:03 PM »
Hello.

I have not printed from an amiga since at least 1999. I am now trying to share my Brother laser printer. It is connected on an usb port of my main Toshiba PC running Windows 7, and already shared with 2 laptop running windows XP.
I hope  i do not have to install Samba or that kind of complicated stuff.
For now, i have installed Netpar.device and prt42_50 from aminet. I run OS 3.1.
I have setup everything with the host PC name and so, but it does not seem to print anything.

Any clue?
10 Classic Amiga Computers so far: I have too many computers!!

Hi

Never done this on an Amiga but I would have thought that you would need Samba (client) installed to be able to use the printer as Windows uses the SMB protocol to share the printer. I have done this with Linux and needed Samba client to be able to access the printer.
