Easy1541
« on: April 23, 2004, 01:34:11 PM »
This program works with both my A4000 and A1200 units, however it is really not so system friendly, as it crashes both units mostly after finishing a disk or two (when working with *.d64 files), or randomly.

I see that the program hasn't been updated for quite a while now, and the last version has been released before OS3.9 came out. Anyway, can anyone recommend how to make Easy1541 run nicely on expanded Amigas? Check my signature for individual specs. I suspect that it could be that the accelerators in both units are not tolerated by this oldish program.

Hmm, that's odd.

I use Easy1541 (from Aminet) with it's interface quite regularly on my A1200.

The specs of that machine are:
A1200 with Blizzard 1230IV and 16MB of fast ram.
2.something GB 3.5inch HDD (Powerflyer)
and OS 3.5. (KS 3.1, PAL)

Methinks it should work on your system too?

Perhaps it doesn't like OS 3.9, but other than that I wouldn't know.

I do know it doesn't really like other programs running at the same time, so perhaps lose some commodities or something?

I was thinking of giving it a shot on my A600 with KS3.1 and OS3.1, but it would sure be more comfortable to be able to do it on my more expanded Amigas with OS3.9.

You could do that too :-)

However, I firmly believe it must be possible. I use all kinds of hacks on OS 3.5 and never have any problems!?

It's slow as hell though.

It could be a screensaver issue. I have had lots of problems with various programs and screensavers..

And (though it is counter Amiga like) try not do anything while using Easy1541. I've noticed it doesn't really like multitasking, due to the timing issues.

Other than that I'm stumped...

I have a problem.
Where an Amiga 3000 and a Easy1541 cable (the cable is well prepared, I checked).
OS3.9. Easy1541 software installed.
IEC mount command is issued, the Amiga freeze.
No error message is.

OS3.1 event: Error # 80000004 Reboot or Suspend ...

C64kopik software also freezes the Amiga 3000

What's wrong?

Config:
A3000 - ROM 3.1, Ramsey 7, Buster 9, DMac 2
A3640 v3.1
1 SCSI HDD
2 megs of CHIP RAM
2 megs of FAST RAM - MegaMix2000
2 megs of FAST RAM - Oktagon AT-2008 (a IDE HDD & CF card adapter)

On expanded Amigas it might help to turn off the CPU cache before running old software, just enter CPU NOCACHE in Shell before using Easy1541.
