Will a PCMCIA memory card work on A1200?
« on: July 22, 2010, 05:08:22 AM »
I am trying to avoid having to hook up a CDROM drive to my Amiga 1200 so I am wondering if a regular PCMCIA memory card will work with no issues.  Do I just simply plug it in and wala:  it works.  Do I need to have it inserted before I turn my Amiga on?  Do I need a driver?  Thanks.

Not sure about that specifically, but I have the PCMCIA adapter for Compact Flash cards from amigakit and it works great.
It does come with some software so I am thinking there is some driver issues. Not sure about a pure PCMCIA card.

Ive used a few PCMCIA Memory cards for storage without any problems, just plug and play :) Tho I do not know wich cards you are planning to use.

You could use the PCMCIA Compact Flash adapter at AmigaKit as storage if you want, there is a few good working PCMCIA SD card readers also :)
