How unusual is this? CPU card with two CPUs

In my search to get my 4000 running, I grabbed a stack of old CPU cards, mostly A3640s.

There was one A3200/A3400 card that had both a 68020 and a 68030 plus the jumpers to switch between them.

I've seen plenty with only the 030 on them, but never one with both so I thought someone else might be interested in seeing it.

Never seen one like that before, either. And I can't quite tell from the image, but is that a full 030 rather than an EC030?

I wonder if it came out of a prototype A3200 system.

Yes, they are full parts.

MC68020 FE 25 and 68030 FE 25 plus the 68882 FN 25.

Looking at it more closely, it also seems to be fully populated which is unusual based on the big book of Amiga hardware and my other card.

It has the MapRom circuitry (jumpered  as if in use) and the extra jumpers to switch CPUs.

Comparing the stickers on the back of the card:
A usual card is marked A4CPU EC030 and has a testing sticker.
This one says 68020/30 CPU CARD and has no trace of a testing sticker.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was an early test unit.

There was talk of a Gemini board on Dave H. web site. I do not know if it is the same.

This looks very rare, I have never seen a board like this.  It should fetch a good price on eBay.

It's definitely a rare piece of card.
From a quick search on BBOAH it's probably the accelerator of the early stages of A4000 named A3400: http://www.bboah.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=7&id=1859

As the article says:
- The A3630 is labelled "A3200/A3400 68020/030 BOARD Rev 1.0 "

It's exactly what the picture shows also :eek:

Probably some very early A4000 models must have gotten this accelerator card!

I'd update the bboah but I can't tell which is the "real" one anymore, there are too many online.  Anybody know?

Also their page is wrong about the "developer" card, it's not overclocked, it just has a 33Mhz 68882 driven by a 32Mhz crystal.  The CPU isn't driven by that crystal but the FPU optionally is.

It's not that rare of a card but yours is definalty different as it has both CPUs on it installed. I have two but only an 030 on them.  You can insttall the 2nd CPU and the jumper is there.  They were sold in the Amiga 4000/030 and also some A3000T's that did not have the 040 card on them (and no onboard 030 I have one of these)
