Dopus Magellan II File Types
« on: May 24, 2010, 08:02:03 AM »
I have never been able to figure out File Types for Dopus Magellan II. Or any Dopus for that matter.

What I am aiming for is the ability to play WAV files, preferably 16-bit and below, just by double clicking.

Like wise I'd like to be able to do this for various audio, video, and image files as well.

What is the key?

I see there are many AREXX Scripts out there for DOpus, but I've never been able to comprehend how that works either, let alone how to tie it into Dopus, OctaMED S.S. and the like.

Normally WAV is already supported by DOPUS II. Check for the wav filetype, hit Right Amiga / 5 and scroll down. Now you should see a filetype called 'WAVE, Soundsample'. Normally wavs are supported by using 'Command play', which is internally, instead having to use arexx and play16.
If not, you should add it ;) Let me know.

I went in to Dopus' File Types.

I hit the Right Amiga Key 5 times. That did nothing.

Anyhow what I do see in the box is a filetype for LHA,LZX, MOD files, and Font.

I'm not sure what FONT is doing in there, and when I double click on any of them to look at their properties to perhaps learn something...

....they yield little information. They all seem to be set to "Double Click" "Drag and Drop" etc., with nothing in the boxes to the right.

So what I need to know is how to add these things and how to tie them into external programs if I want.

Ehhhhhhhh. You need to keep the R Amiga key pressed and hit 5 on the keyboard together (or select the menuitem ofcourse).

x303: Nope, not there, but I got it working thankx to the Magazine links!

AmiKit: That should about cover it. Especially with the MagnusOpus package on Aminet that was mentioned in the second part of the article. This is a lot to digest, but exactly the sort of info I was looking for.

Thankx all!
