Amiga Disk Recovery?
« on: May 07, 2010, 11:42:04 PM »
I just got instant music in the mail today:)  But its a little corrupted. The program runs, but it hangs at the intro screen. I want to run recovery on it, but I have some questions...

1. The first thing I did was make an adf copy of the disk. Can I use this copy to run recovery software? I have amiga forever.

2. If I can't is there any good disk recovery that will run on wb 1.3? I know there's disk doctor, but I have heard not to use it, and the disksalv version on aminet only works on wb 3 and higher.

You can download an older version of DiskSalv here:

http://amigarealm.whdownload.com/amiga/amitools/tools4.htm

This should work with WB 1.3 up.

Good luck :)

I think v2 does everything you need; on KS 1.3 I used v1.x with pretty good results -could rescue a badly corrupted Lotus 1 disk into a working one - but it took a long time . And Disksalv v2 needs "just" KS 2.x.

Uh... if you were able to make an ADF of it, the disk is probably fine and it's another issue causing the program to hang...

My thoughts exactly.

Running disk Salv on an emulator states that there is a problem with one of the files on the disk. The problem I am having is that Instant Music hangs on intro screen both with my emulator and my real amiga.

You could probably find a working disk from emulation sites. I found 3 different adfs in a minute.

Run SnoopDOS and see why its failing before you start messing with the disk. And don`t forget that DiskSalv has a number of varying options some of which can be quite destructive so first try to make a full copy of the disk.

Downloaded the first adf I found and launched on AF 2008 (KS 1.3). Worked at least into the control panel with some sounds from the speakers.
