My first case mod!
« on: May 29, 2010, 04:18:57 AM »
Well i couldnt be happier with this one :) I've modded my A500 to accept a standard PC Floppy drive (converted to an Amiga 880kb one) and the main problem was the button hole being in a different location on the PC Drive. The solution was some Selleys knead it and a lot of patience and checking to make sure I got it right. Selleys kneed it is bloody brilliant for this kind of thing! it sets really hard and you can sand/shape it after 60 mins.

A thought just crossed my mind...

I wonder if anyone has used that stuff to repair penis pumps, dildos and the like? I bet there is a huge profit to be had in repair services for things like that.

Wow, that's a really neat job you've done! Usually people just saw off the eject button on the PC drive and re-attach it 1cm or so to the side so it fits through the Amiga's hole, but this way looks cool too. By the looks of it, there wouldn't have been much to re-attach the button to if you wanted to fit it through the default hole anyway, so the way you've done it is probably the best.

thanks Cammy! the last thing to do is to make the button longer so it doesn't disappear into the case when you eject a floppy disk... I'm thinking either a blob of hot glue or a small block on the end of the button should do it.

@sbeehre,

I see under your avatar you're from Hamilton, NZ.  My sister and her husband live near Aukland for the last 15+ years or so and have become dual citizens.  She works for one of the local councils near their home and he is retired now.  They sailed there in their 42ft. long Ketch right after their marriage and my Sister received her Master's Degree in Marine Biology.

My Sister will be representing New Zealand (again) with her running, biking and swimming this Summer, but this time it will be at the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii in October.  She is 52 years old now and still competing (in her age group).  The high point of her athletic career was when she was invited to participate in the 10k exhibition race at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.  I got to take her bag out to the track infield with her during the Games and see many famous athletes.

I would love to visit New Zealand again soon.  I did not get to visit the South Island last time I was there.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

what a coincidence about the Iron Man as my Dad is off to Hawaii in October to compete in it to! he qualified in Taupo earlier this year.
