A4000T clock seems to get stuck
« on: March 30, 2010, 05:32:03 PM »
Yesterday i set the clock in my A4000T and it kept the right time, even after resets etc.. But i then switched the Amiga off and switched it on again today only to find that the time is stuck around the same time i switched the Amiga off yesterday.

As though turning off the Amiga is like turning off an anologue clock. The hands stay where they last where when turned off.

I suppose its a sign the battery is good but something is wrong with the clock.

Any ideas?

Mine was doing that just before the battery died.

"Traces of love... long ago... that didn't work out right"... lol  (sorry, love that tune)

Did the old battery eat away at some of the circuitry? Pretty common and check to be sure the components are still good - diodes and resistors especially. Did you just replace it with a coin-type battery kit? I did on my A3000 and even after resetting the RAM and repairing the traces, machine exhibits the same problem as yours  :(

Most (almost all?) 4000Ts came with coin cells from the factory.
3 Commodore file cabinets, 2 Commodore USB turntables, 1 AmigaWorld beer mug
Alienware M14x i7 laptop running AmigaForever

Yep, all coin cells, I have never seen a leaky A4000T mobo.
Check the gallery pics for the battery pack I installed instead of the dead coin cell.
