Request For Help...
« on: March 26, 2010, 10:24:38 AM »
Hi Gang...I have a request from this community. I was a long time Amiga  user, having owned a 500, 1200, 3000, and a 4000. I have since sold all  of my Amigas, having moved to the dark side, but I need some help from  my old community. When my second son was in junior high, he had a class  assignment to create a newspaper. Together, he and I created a kick-ass  newspaper using all Amiga software, Final Writer, DeluxePaint, and  ImageFX if memory serves. I have a DD disk with all of this stuff backed  up, but it's quite old now and I have no idea if it's still intact or  not. Since I no longer have the means to check it, I was wondering if I  could find someone still active in the community who would be willing to  check the disk for me, and print out all the files if they still were  viable. I would expect to reward whoever would undertake this project  with whatever fee would be fair. I do miss my Amigas and my wife  especially misses MegaBall!
Regards,
Bruce Berg

Ha Ha...Good one! I initially posted, as you can see, in the general forum. However, that didn't produce anyone willing to undertake this project. So I tried this section thinking perhaps someone who reads this forum and maybe not others might be willing to assist. I'm new to this site, so if I've broken some protocol, mea culpa. Thanks for expending the energy to search this though.
Regards...Bruce

I don't have a printer for my Amiga, but I can digitize the disk for you so you could access the files under WinUAE. I think there are a few users here closer to you in Nebraska, but let me know.

FYI, for future reference, if a thread isn't getting any responses the best way to get more people to see it is to just post a response in it. That'll bump it to the top of the recent threads list on the front page.

As to MegaBall, it's freeware now. One of my favorites :)

Thanks for the Megaball link I was looking for it.

If you have a PCI slot free you can get a Catweasel MK4. It lets you read Amiga disks with a PC floppy.

Hi Guys...Thanks for the comeback. I've been trying to locate someone around here who still has a working Amiga, but the numbers are apparently small now. I actually thought about just picking one up somewhere, and doing it myself, but I'm in the middle of a huge project converting all of my old family video tape to DVD, so my available time just doesn't exist right now. I would gladly pay someone to do it for me, cause if it turns out to be an unreadable disk, the time spent getting a system working again wouldn't be productive. (I have a LOT of video tape to convert) It does feel good to reconnect with the Amiga crowd again, though. Some of the best years of my life were spent with this crowd. It was a good religion to be a part of!

Bruce
