Breakdown of amigas sold by model?

Are there any reasonably reliable figures out there for how the various amiga models sold in relation to each other?

Whether in actual numbers, percentage of total sales or whatever.

Interesting that its 10 to 1 for the A500 versus the 1200, but of course it was around a lot longer.

Very interesting numbers!  I love statistics.

How did you get such exact numbers?

I am surprised the A600 sold so well in Deutschland.  Here in the USA we just couldn't get anyone to buy them.  Well that is my own personal experience, maybe it was different elsewhere.

I was also surprised about the A2000 sales over there.  I knew the A2000 sold well in USA but I was under the impression that big box Amigas always sold terribly in Europe.

I read the figures for UK and Australia, but only remember...

The A2000HD was competing with A3000 so it continued to sell well.
The A600 and CD32 probably only sold a handful in Australia. We also got really cheap PC's so Amiga died quicker in here.

Interesting numbers, can you provide your source for these numbers (not that I doubt you, but would like to know where the numbers came from)?

It would be interesting if similar breakdown of sales numbers could be found for the other major Amiga markets to get a fairly accurate picture of total sales World wide.  I guess I am a statistic freak too, as I love to see stuff like this if it can be verified and confirmed.

Edit:  It is probably already well known, but I can see and vaguely remember the disappointment and resistance of many Amiga users to upgrading from their A500 and specially A2000's to the A3000D and AmigaOS2.0 when it was released.  The hardware was an improvement, but with no significant changes to the Amiga chipset and display capabilities, many Amiga users then could see the handwriting on the wall that the Mac and PC's would soon catch up and surpass the Amiga's display capabilities and were angry with Commodore for not doing the engineering and development to keep the Amiga years ahead of the rest of the competition, where it had been since it's release in 1985.  So it is no surprise that sales numbers for the A3000 are very low compared to the A500 and A2000.

You must also factor in the fact that here in North America, The Video Toaster Card, probably accounted for a whole lot of A2000 (A2500) sales, until the A4000 came out.

I wonder how much sales would have been affected if the deal with SUN would have went through for the A3000?

Completely anecdotal but I knew a fair number of people who got 600's in Denmark.

Given most of the people I knew was younger, it was split between the low end models: 500, 600 and 1200.

I did know a single guy with a 500+ except, oddly, it only had 512 kb of RAM. I thought the 500+ came with 1 meg, unless it was some sort of weird prototype

The first link is interesting. Looks like amiga market share peaked in 91 at 5%.
