Retrieving iBrowse key
« on: January 31, 2010, 06:52:00 PM »
I know you can't register iBrowse any more, but does anyone know if there's anyone I can contact to retrieve a lost iBrowse 2.4 key?

Thanks! I will give that a try if I can't find it. I've got an old backup on CD but can't find the keyfile on there. Do you know what the name of the file is and where it would be located?

Hi Moto

It's called IBrowse2Key and normally lives in the program directory.

Thanks. Unfortunately I can't find a file with that name on any of my backups. I think I lost the final backup I made of my A4000 before I disassembled it :(

I'll contact IOSPIRIT and see if they can help me.

The Amiga is probably the most sensibly organized (C, Devs, L, Libs, S, etc) OS ever.  In hindsight, it's a shame a few others weren't standardized early on like:

Vault:     a standard place to put keyfiles and evolved config files like Dopus's.  Easy to back-up.

Sounds:  standard system sounds

Logs:      installation log files

Wouldn't a vault be a bad place to keep a key, especially if it was the key to the vault? Still, it's a cool name if only for the fact it reminds me of Fallout...

sometimes Keys are placed in the "s" dir. you could try a look in there

I contacted IOSPIRIT and they informed me that I should still be able to log in to their site and download the key. I did it, and it worked :)
