Fate of Atlantis and Darkseed graphic issues on A600

Hey there,

I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to get the cursor in FoA to match with where it is on screen?  I remember having this problem back in the day on our A500+, the cursor seems to think you are trying to click on something a good 10 pixels, if not more bellow it, so for example, if you're trying to select a certain conversation form a dialogue tree chances are you have to hover the mouse over the option above it.

Also is there a way to get Darkseed to launch at its intended resolution (high-res interlaced)
without first setting Workbench at that screen size?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

The solution to the pointer problem is to click 10 pixels above the thing you want to click on. :p In all seriousness, is using the WHDLoad version an option for you? It might fix these little bugs.

Hehe! Yeah, that's how I used to play it back in the day.

I tried to but I got out of memory errors :(

However this leads me to another question: is there particular files I need to add to 3.1 to get WHDload to run on the A600? When I first got this amiga it came with WHDload installed on it already, however in a moment of stupidity I accidently formatted the hard drive >.<' and since then I've never really succeeded in getting WHDload working on it :(

How much memory do you have, and what was the error?

I don't think it's any different to installing it on other Amigas. You need to download the WHDLoad user archive and install it, then download installers for the games and run them to install the game. Some games require additional kickstart ROM images to be present as they are used to emulate a system which is compatible with the game. Check the WHDLoad documentation for details of how to do this.

Hmm, I imagine it's 1mb it has at the moment as it has a RAM expansion in the bottom (I've not got around to picking up the 2mb expansion yet).

The error I receive is:

DOS-Error #103 (not enough memory available)
on PreLoad for Examine on object
"Work:Games/LucasArts/Atlantis/DATA".

Back to the non-WHDload topic, have you tried picking "original" screenmode on bootup using the early startup menu before the game starts?  I've seen issues running certain OCS games on ECS machines.

I remember using tude from aminet to play Indy4. and many other games.

Yeah, I also tried NTSC incase it was a US copy I had.

I'll have to look into that, it's one I haven't heard of before...

The preload option attempts to load the whole game into RAM before starting it. IIRC Atlantis is a massive game and wouldn't fit into 1MB. You can disable the preload option in the tooltypes of the game's icon and see if that works.

Okay, I think that is a step in the right direction.

No error now, but I am left with a blank screen.
