Installing SCSI Cd-Rom in A4000T
«

I would like to install a SCSI Cd-Rom in my 4000T which already has a SCSI HDD installed. Is it a matter of selecting a random ID on the CD-ROM (say '4), and connecting to one of the many scsi connectors on the scsi cable which is already connected to the SCSI HDD? Or there is more to that?
Also, what am I supposed to do in WB3.1 to get the drive going?

Because CD-ROMs work differently then Harddrives, you need mounting software that can handle such a beast. There are some software packages that do excellent jobs at this or you can look on Aminet and you'll find what your looking for free w/o bells and whistles.
Read the guide for what ever prog. you choose and it will direct you on how to set up your CD-ROM.

My query at the moment doesnt regard the actual software, but the setting up the IDs. and termination.

You've got it right. Select a SCSI ID different from your hard drive and you're ready to go.
On the software front, look at AmiCDFS, BabelCDFS, CacheCDFS/IDEFix, or AsimCDFS.

Cheers
- I will use CacheCDFS from OS3.9 to get Joliet support. As for WB3.1 I assume I have to drag CD0: to devs and configure it to reflect the SCSI ID as the CDROM?

Not so fast!
First only both end devices attached to the SCSI chain must be terminated.
Normally they are the SCSI controller itself and a terminator or the last SCSI device attached.
On A4000T there is a passive terminator in the main board (SCSI controller terminator) and another terminator on the back of the case.
If so, just turn off the CD/DVD termination jumper. Read the datasheet from the model you are using.

Goodbye people.
I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Great thanks. I assume information will be on the CD-Rom as well? The SCSI CD-ROM I bought (I dont have it yet) is a Panasonic CR-507-B.
You can see the back of the drive here:
