Hi,
@J-Golden,
Wow that was really nice of DiscreetFx giving you a A4000 Tower.
Yes I to have an old obsolete A4000 with a Picasso II video card, a GVP IV24 card and video switcher, but mine is a desktop, I also have an X-surf card (which I never could get to work) and a A3640 accelerator. What do I do with this machine, I keep all my important stuff on it, like my software database, my magazine database, my important paper database, and of course my check book program. This is stuff I wouldn't trust having on a PC, why? because when I did it had crashes at least once every 6 months. I have had my obsolete A4000 since 1992 and I can't ever remember it crashing. I know I purposely crashed it one time when I accidently reformatted the hard drive, but I had all my stuff backed up on my spare hard drive by using diskmaster and LHARC, best backup program I have ever seen, good compression and it was pretty darn fast.
Well anyhow enjoy your obsolete computer and remember if you have a PC that is windows based, the final word is BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP or use Linux.
Will I ever get rid of my obsolete computer? not as long as it boots faster than a PC, and the joystick moves faster than a MAC's and a PC's joystick, because we all know the faster the joystick the more fun we have.
Thank you DiscreetFX, it is people like you in the Amiga Community, that keep it going, and keep people interested and coming back.
