Whoops! Didn't mean to win this ebay auction.
« on: September 01, 2009, 03:36:04 PM »
Hello,

I figured that there was no way this Microbotics 030 accelerator would go for the amount I offered of $125. Figured it would be rubbing close to maybe $200 or more.

I got an A1200, but nothing as far as a power supply, monitor, or anything like that. Well I will see what I can do. If it works, i will just resell it lol.

Either you could write to seller and see if he's willing to accept your apologies and keep the item :) Maybe paying him the ebay fees that he spent for the listing could make you get away without buying. Just a thought. In the past, i have paid for items i really regret buying afterwards but that doesn't mean that you can't say no tis time. That's why feedback is there.

So, uhm, why did you bid if you didn't actually want it?

I find that with Amiga stuff, IF the seller has 100% good feedback, will be good untested or not. You get the untested stuff a LOT cheaper though!

hey,

Sorry, dont mean to sound like I am a bad ebayer lol. I did pay for the item. I am aware its untested, but ill take the benefit of a doubt when im able to test it. Right now I got my A1200, but forgot the PSU n such over in Nevada! :(

I figured it would have went over the $125, but yea, i guess since its untested, then maybe it is toast..... :(  Maybe somehow it can get fixed? :P

Either way, dont usually 030 acceleraters go for more?

Looks like its a 68030 / 68882 @ 33 mhz.  $125 sounds about right.  Maybe even slightly high, considering Microbotics isn't typically one of the more desirable brands for A1200.  I'm not sure why that is, it's not a bad board, from what I can tell...

The Microbotics VXL-30 A500 boards go for more because A500 socket accelerators are so much less common than A1200 trapdoor ones.

Yea, i just seen that it was the 33mhz. I used to own one, but without the mathco and it had a 50mhz cpu instead.  Im sure if you change the crystals and get both 50mhz versions, then it could work.  Even if i have to sacrifice the 68882, that is ok.. I dont recall using much programs that used it.

Well if you get it and you don't want it - drop me a note and I may take it off your hands for the same price you paid for it.

Cheers

Hey kd7ota,

I have this brand board (Microbotics M1230XA 030/50MHz) in one of my A1200 and it is a fine board.  Have not had any trouble running WHDload  or anything else.  Like yourself I got it off eBay untested, only because the owner no longer had the A1200 to test with and he had 100% feedback, did not have a history of turning over Amiga items I felt it was a good risk.  Good luck with your board.

Offering to pay the guys seller fees *IS* a classy option. But there is way to get around
this. DON'T PANIC! He can file/open a non-paying bidder dispute. It's simple, easy and
automated. It's not as bad as it sounds. You both then agree to cancel the transaction.
This way, you are not liable in their "contract" and he doesn't have to pay ePay their
fees....
