A3000D/Warp'040 scsi configurations?

Any A3000D/Warp'040 users left out there? What's your internal to external scsi chain setup?

I read after hours of research that the Warp scsi dosn't function while there are devices attached to the stock A3000 scsi header. (this accounts for hours of no progress and it's not mentioned in the manual.)

My scsi chain consists of a 4gig Seagate Medalist ST34520N HD off the internal A3000 scsi header, a 100mg ZIP drive, a 2x no name CDrom drive and a Microtek ScanmakerE3 scsi scanner off the external header. Not all 4 devices play nice together and the scanner is out of the chain untill scanning is needed. The CDrom and ZIP drive are swapped out with the scanner. It's been this way for years... during that time, I had been attempting to get the Warp scsi functioning with no success. Aquired a FastlaneZIII with the hopes of it functioning in the A3000D. No luck there either. And no, it's not for sale.

I'm looking to upgrade my A3000 with an AD516 with a dedicated scsi II audio drive along with a cdburner and a ZIP drive in an external enclosure with a pass through port for the scanner. Before I spend more money on hardware, I'd like to get the Warpdrive scsi working as the AD516 will function a whole lot better on a scsi II controller.

Sorry, I did not see your original post when you put it up.  I have not used my A3000D w/WarpEngine in a long while, but I don't remember having any trouble with the two SCSI controllers or any of the devices connected to them.  I always had my hard drive connected to the WarpEngine SCSI-2 controller and IIRC, I had an external CD-ROM drive connected to the A3000D's external SCSI connector.  I also used ZIP drives from the external connector.  The only thing I made sure of was that if I had more than one device on the chain, was that I had different SCSI ID's for each device.

The SCSI-2 on the WarpEngine was quite fast and very reliable for me, so I hope you can work out your system.  Do you have the original WarpEngine install disk?  Are you using the correct SCSI controller name to try to get it working?

make sure your A3000D SCSI WD chip is REV. 08. Earlier versions were incompatable.

Your A3000 does have the INT2 fix, right?
They should work happily together, but it's been awhile since i've tried.

The Warp engine has a jumper wire on jp4 of warp engine with a chip clip that attaches to pin 21 of CIA U350 and takes care of the interrupt signal.

I have a WarpEngine (WE) 040 w/64MB in an A3000D and it has a 9GB IBM SCSI drive on its SCSI header. When I first obtained the WE, I could not get the onboard SCSI to work but later found that it was the hard drive that was the problem. It didn't like the old Quantum 750MB drive but worked just fine with the IBM 9GB drive. The WE SCSI controller is very fast in comparison to the onboard SCSI.

As far as using it simultaneously with the internal SCSI controller, I tried it with a Yamaha CD Writer on the internal SCSI chain and the IBM SCSI on the WE SCSI but it would not read from CDROMS that had Amiga file structures for some reason. I upgraded the WD chip to rev 08 with the same result. I thought it could have been the drive so I gave up and bought a Deneb and now use an external USB DVD writer. USB is the way to go imho.

Thanks amiga92570 for the link to the Warp'40/A3000 install info. Warp manual only covers A4000 install. Only have a copy, not an original, of the WarpEmgine software. Will double check the software install. Will have to disassemble the unit to check the jumper settings.
WD-08, Superbuster-11, DMAC-04. JP4 is properly wired. SCSI cable is new. Drive on Warp scsi header is properly terminated. I have a box of drives to test with, some are kinda sketchy.
