Thanks, but I think I am OK on that part.
It is getting into the PC on a 4 wire USB that has me at a standstill right now.

Here is the web page that describes the USB to Serial Adapter that I am using;

It DOES seem to make all the 4 wire USB protocol become 9 pin RS 232 compatible, probably with a chip of some complexity.
