dvd rom

Hi, how do i mount a new dvdrw player in  os 4,1. i got a preconfigured hd from amigakit, so i dont know how to mount it. how should i put the "jumpers" . on the ide cable the dvd rom is first,then the hd.

Check the jumpers on the HDD. If the HDD is master then the DVD has to be slave and vice versa.

I have put the jumpers with hd as master, and dvd as slave but it makes no different. where in os 4,1 do i look for the dvd. are there any program i can use to find it? should i use a seperate cable for the dvd (ide port 2) ?

OS4 should autoconfig CD-type devices. Just pop in a disc and it should show up.

Remember that port 1 master is unit 0, port 1 slave is unit 1, port 2 master is unit 2. and port 2 slave is unit 3. You might need to configure your UBoot variables to force a CD drive at a given unit - the automatic settting doesn't work for all drives (such as mine).

Never use CS/Cable Select when jumpering a drive.

I have found the problem, 2 pins on the cable was cut off.  a bit hard to find.

It has to be supported by the IDE controller, and most/all Amiga IDE interfaces do not. Not sure about the controllers on the PPC motherboards, but it's just another variable when configuring so it might as well be eliminated.

Ok, figured with 4.1 we weren't talking classic, so with proper 80-wire cabling it should work.
