Lost model
« on: July 19, 2009, 08:13:24 PM »
I was just reading an old Amiga World magazine (March 1995) and noticed a Canadian company selling an Amiga model 2200. Was this a scam? or were they really trying to do this?
It's on page 60, if you have a copy...

I found a thread here from 2004 on this very subject. Search A2200 if you have to know...

This is the post I best remember about the 2200. It's been 2 years since CatHerder logged in, so I don't think we're going to see any more details for a while...

@Drac - it funny that the photos used here are from the ad I was reading from the 1995 Amiga World!

@ Matt_H  -  That was what I found in the search.

I've got that issue as well. I'm temped to try to get some better scans, but the original image wasn't that great, either. Not sure it would be any better.

Am I reading Catherders post right? Does this mean there are 65,000 motherboards out there? You would think they would have shown up by now, like the "new" CD32 units that ended up in China.

Probably deemed "incomplete product" or something by the warehouse and trashed.  The CD32s were obviously complete so I could see why they wouldn't dump those.

There's a second post in that thread that explains the fate of the boards (and might also explain the speed claims).

Put some fastram in your A1200 and the effective speed almost doubles compared to the version without fastram.
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200
