Amiga 2000 and A2090A
« on: July 20, 2009, 10:26:34 AM »
Hello to all. I am building these days an Amiga2000. I bought for this a A2630 card and I also have a A2090A SCSI card, a 2MB Ram card, a X-Surf II and a Seagate ST251 MFM Hard disk.

What I want to do is to make a system for playing games installed with WHDLoad in it, to see a few demos and to have a simple lan access for irc and ftp access.

So I have to remove the MFM hard disk, which works great, and put an other SCSI 3.5" hard disk in it's place. Also, I would like to use a cd-rom connected with x-surf.

Last weekend I tried to install a 1GB SEAGATE ST31230N to the A2090A, but no matter what I did, it couldn't see it. I tried to locate it from hdtoolbox with hddisk.device, but when it access the hard disk it never continued. Maybe the hard disk is broken.

I'd like to ask you if there is anyone who has such a system ready and running. Do you have a hard disk attached to the A2090A? What is the biggest Hard Disk capacity that this card can use? Should I try to find an other SCSI card to you, and which one?

Thanks in advance for your time.

yes, you should. like a2091.

I think that IDE card is also a good option, its very cheap but can't do autoboot (at least the one I have)

An A2090A is a terrible SCSI-card, on the edge of useless.

Get an A2091, preferably with v7.0 roms, or any other SCSI-card and you will be much happier.
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200

The A2090 is a b*tch - only works with the provided software, is not RDB compatible and a general pain. I don't think larger than 1 Gig drives work if 1 Gigs do at all...

PS: and yes, it doesn't like 32 bit fastram beyond 16 MB.

Thank you all guys for your fast replies. So I'm looking for an A2091 with 7.0 Roms.  Does anyone sell one? :D

Anyway. I will keep looking for this. Thank you all.

If you get a 2091 card, then I can provide you with rom 7.0 - send me a private message.

@tone007 & Nostalgiac
I live in Greece. Please have a look if you have those cards and send me PM with your price. And then I will reply to you about it. I surely want to buy one of those, but I don't want to spent a lot on them, so please be realistic.

@nishtek
Thanks for your offer. If I find one 2091 without 7.0 roms, I will surely tell you

@all
thanks guys for all your efforts and time. You are all great.
