Amiga A4000T PCB ISSUE HELP!
« on: July 02, 2009, 05:04:12 AM »
I received my A4000T via the USPS and it got to me very bashed up :(. It worked for a while and then stopped working. I noticed after looking closely at all threads related to issues with the PCB that I needed to check every little detail.

Well I did and noticed that a small diode had broken off and is missing, so I suspect it is the problem. I went to Big Book and noticed that indeed the part is missing from my PCB.

My question is who would know how to replace or repair something like that?

Thanks,
LoBai

Bummer.  Got photos of the small diode or damage areas?

The low cost solution would be to take the motherboard to local electronics repair shop (and i mean some dude that fixes TVs for instance) those parts are standard, get someone to solder a new one and see if it boots then.  or try soldering yourself once you get the part.
At worst, he should be able to take measurements and provide the part.

What pcb area are you talking about?  the gold / copper ones next to 8520?

i got to go catch some sleep... will check mail tomorrow morning.

The disk drives (see the other thread) are $28.   The Disk Drives work also on any amiga.  I have disk drives with faceplates too if interested.  These are only $22.
Will see if i can get some info about A4000T.  Meanwhile, your low low cost is getting the missing part from local electronics repair shop.  They can do the job for you i bet for low cost.  Soldering that is like 30 seconds.
ANY other symptons you had on your Amiga 4000T ? did it boot at all?  or just went on & off?
Don't forget ALICE chip gets really hot so you need low profile heatsink for it - drop me an email if you don't have one.
