If you have too much time on your hands keep reading, otherwise TURN BACK NOW.
:bump:

Okay,

Who misses pinball, going to video game arcades, lawnbowls(God forbid) or sunlight? (I saw the sun once when I was a youngin') lol
I know people collect pinball machines and arcade units, but they are not commercially viable. Compared to the all-powerful cybercafe. People of all ages still enjoy lawnbowls even though it should be restricted to small children, the disabled and dementia sufferers.

I remember the video game arcade saw a late flare up before beginning their slow descent into oblivion. Even now, perhaps near a cinema, you could walk in and see someone playing Dance Dance Revolution, if you happen in at the right time. You could be eclectic and take DDR plus whatever else, put them in the cinema and people can still enjoy them. If you add in servicing costs there will be little interest though.

Businesses usually start in the deep-end (to apply an analogy) they learn to swim first, figure out how second.

I'm waffling on... more on my Blog.

I don't miss pinball one bit - because I restore them  :-)

But yeah, I do miss pinball out and about. There are a lot of reasons why said machines are no longer "commercially viable" as you put it, but there is a large following in the private sector for them. Even in your own country - a chap has bought the rights to re-manufacturing certain titles from Williams. He's taken some peoples money up front in fact and doesn't seem to be producing any results other than pissing people off.

Lawnbowl I've never really seen, but I get shuffle puck bowlers from time to time and those are great fun. Just got through restoring a 1952 Chicago Coin Triple-Score in fact. They're usually the hit of a gaming party.
