The new beta version 0.8 of VmwAROS distribution is out. This new release includes huge improvements in many areas.
The new emergency mode uses a second AROS kernel to boot the operating system on older machines and, generally, on ATA PCs where the new builds fails to boot.
The new ordinary kernel provide initial support for some Serial-ATA controllers and faster DMA access on compatible hardware.
The distribution now includes more games, more utilities and a complete development environment supporting C and C++, and there is also the E interpreter PortablE.
VmwAROS beta 0.8 is available in two flavours as usual: the VE (virtual environment) for VMware virtual machines, and the LIVE! distribution on a bootable Live-CD, which will run on real hardware and can be installed on the hard drive along with other operating systems.
