New Pegasos II review

Not a bad review, first chunk looks like it was cut-n-past from the marketing manual :-)  but the rest has a nice real world feel to it.   -   Though you could do with getting rid of that annoying "enhance your browsing experience" pop-up :-)

It would be nice if someone could do a review of the Pegasos booting into something other than MorphOS, I'd be interested to see hear how well Linux works and handles.

Plus it might be nice if an "untainted" user could be stuck in front of a Pegasos machine running MorphOS/Linux and write down what they think of the experience ... by "untainted" I mean someone who isn't an Amiga/MorphOS zealot and hasn't been subjected to the years of bickering :-)

Is there such a person on planet Earth? :-) Those who are not Amiga/MorphOS Zealots will compare it to the current Operating Systems out there - like the OSNews article about the Peg I and MorphOS, and will completely miss the perspective of the average Amiga user.

But could you provide the results of your bechmarks compared to the Peg1 and to an Amiga?

I mean "20.2 seconds" sounds nice but what does it mean compared to the other machines? Also some CPU-intensive 68 applications would be interesting. How long takes the Raptor-scene on the Peg2-G4 compared to an 060 Amiga on LW for instance?

I actually hope that Amiga and Amigalike systems will become interesting for this kind of users again one day.

It will take a serious overhaul to get the AmigaOS API back among the state of the art architectures. MorphOS already implemented many must to have features and the whole OS was rewritten from scratch, but there is still a long way till it can compete with the giants out there with zillion dollars and users behind them.

It [AmigaOS API] has some advantages though, as it's slim, exceptionally responsive, and amazingly fast compared to others. Only future can tell which one will prevail :-)

Not quite on-topic but I've been wondering about this...  What is the value of a motherboard system bus being faster than the CPU bus?
