Three Game Ports by Epic Interactive and Hyperion Entertainmant
« on: November 08, 2003, 10:43:57 AM »
On http://www.linuxgamepublishing.com/ you can read that Epic Interactive and Hyperion Entertainment are porting 3 games to Linux.

Hyperion states on their website that Gorky17 will also be ported to PPC, meaning that the game will probably run on AmigaOS4 aswell.

Hmmmm
(AFAIK)

The AmigaOS-licence for Gorky lies in e.p.i.c.'s hands, while the
Linux-licence seems to be owned by Hyperion.

I also fail to see how a port to Linux-port would be so much help for
an AOS-port, it's not like the 2 had similar APIs.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

@lempkee

And how does that contradict what I wrote ?
(I assume you saw gorky on Linux-PPC and/or MOL).

Would be kindof odd (and completly out of character) if Hyperion were
doing an AOS-port without telling so.

kronos: hrmm i think i posted too early today (YAAAWN) , i missread yer post.. (scratches his head)

what i wanted to try to say was: epic doesnt list gorky 17 on their website for either pegasos or amigaos, only mac os.
(and when we played that or was shown it on the -BAS show).

anyway its 13:00 and i am just up ....i will return later :D

You know, when I first saw the PC version of this game, I thought it looked gay and lame...

It still does, but running on the Amiga, give it a bit of character.

Damn get a port of UT, Half Life, or hell, even Tribes. Tribes is old enough the license shouldn't be too much.

I'm sad to say it, but shooters arewhat people are looking for in a game (also shows how much the entire world uses violence to teach children.  ;-) ), so if they want to crop the market, that's the way to go.

Granted, I will give Hyperion kudos, 'cos they're just trying to swell the ranks of current games, but shooters are the way to go.

Sigh....me, I prefer RTS and I STILL haven't had a chance to play Napalm. Won't run on my Amithlon box.
