MorphOS SDK 1.0 pre-release 1 released
« on: June 20, 2003, 01:50:32 PM »
A first release of the official MorphOS SDK is immediately available to members of the MorphOS Developer Connection in the files section. It is labeled "pre-release", because many, but not all, OS-parts are covered yet.

This release of the MorphOS SDK contains:
  • MorphED 1.0
  • a complete PPC-native GCC/GG-compiler-environment
  • a complete set of MorphOS includes
  • documentation, example code and articles on many new features of MorphOS
  • the latest release of Barfly PPC ASM (as contribution)
  • the latest OpenPCI SDK (as contribution)
Enjoy!

Great!  :-D

With the release of the SDK we really begin a new phase of the process.  All involved are to be commended.

Felix, you did a very good job organizing everything.

Thank you!

Raquel and Bill :-)

after thinking about this today, I have to say,
this really is a great move and something that
should have been done by Commodore a long time ago...and the other iterations of Amiga, Inc., for that matter.

I have had the opportunity to develop on Windows and Linux on many occasions, just because the tools were available when I needed them.

Not that I wouldn't ever pay for a compiler, but it helps a bunch to have the tools available when you need them...right now I'm downloading the Windows
platform SDK on machine where I had to re-install
the OS...there is no charge for this.

So many people in recent months have advanced
an argument...when talking about this or that..., would you really expect Sun or Microsoft
to do that???....well in this case, Sun and Microsoft
both give away SDK's....and they don't even require a
NDA to be agreed too.

As amiga companies get closer to that level, its very
good indeed :-)

Great news! :-)

Hmm. One of the things that has prevented me from sitting down and learning C programming all these years is the difficulties to set up a working developer envireonment. This seems to cover all aspects of that.

Maybe it's time for me to learn C programming and join the MorphOS Developer Connection (and Phoenix too, BTW) ...

I have a lot of ideas ...! ;-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

@takemehomegrandma
Hey, you don't have to just use C to take get use out of certain parts of the SDK and the MDC.  MorphED (which isn't as fully featured as GoldED AIX, a good marketing move by Dietmar) supports HTML, ARexx, and installer.  The MDC is there for developers at many levels, and can even help organize a group effort.  You don't have to be stuck with just C programming ;-)

Done with excellence, all the way around.
Regards,
Targhan
