So, out of curiosity, does anyone know if BBC uses IIS or Front Page?  As in, do they follow their own advice? :-P

Excellent advice, of course!

The ultimate step would be to use a Mac or install Linux on your PC, though migrating to open source software can be a bit challenging for many people.

Almost as good would be to stop using Microsoft programs to read your e-mail, browse the web or run a web server.

ROFL !

@Simplex - Good point, I bet they use IIS...

You can find out what almost any web site is running for software by using the "What's that site running?" functions on the NetCraft website.  It's link is here - What's That Site Running?

The result for the BBC News site says the following:

The site news.bbc.co.uk is running Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) IFS/1.0.james.20020723.1820 on Linux.

Not only should they dump Microshaft, they should dump Real too. The streaming audio/video on their excellent news website could be done in mpeg or even the new ogg vorbis. Even Flash should be shelved, although there aren't any open alternatives to that yet.

After all, the *non-profit making* BBC are not motivated by any political ties, one of the reasons I much prefer them to, e.g. CNN, so why should they be linked to any commercial interests?

Great read,
I hope they say the same in all computer relaited TV programs they show,
Still, Its not really a fair fight is it, There are so many good reasons why not to buy Microsoft why pick the fact that people write more viruses for the PC?
Still I will think about it as people playing off the major security gaps in all Microsoft products...

That's made my day.  :-)

"Dropping Microsoft will help protect your privacy a little, the rest is up to you." :-)

Another link to wind my M$-loving buddy up with.  :-D

But seriously, I'm glad this message is getting out.  I think (hope) M$ have recently written their own epitaph.

Amiga Inc! Now's the time!  I see a window of opportunity here!  Attack! Attack! Attack!!!!

Cheers,
