this small change in the EULA is getting a lot of press so hopefully people will start paying more attention to alternatives.
I hope so. The only thing Microsoft has proved so far is that they know how to put a PR spin on everything. "Security is our top priority!!" Yet when security holes are found, they still act like the same beaurocracy(SP?).. It can take them months just to admit the problem exists.

The current situation in the Amiga'verse is the first time in a while where I've been excited by computing again. Or at least in anticipation thereof.

Win XP maybe the last MS OS I will buy...

Microsoft may provide security related updates to the OS Components that will be automatically downloaded onto your computer.

Potential holes with auto-download is that, some unsavoury types may duplicate MS’s auto download protocols/authentication process, and install rouge programs.

These security related updates may disable your ability to copy and/or play Secure Content and use other software on your computer.

So much for running legacy programs, business may look else where…

And they will. The exploit for the current institutional backdoor (because that's what MS is pushing, after all) already exists.

This p**** me off a lot.

First off, why so many security problems in the first place.  Now this?  It's a joke...

But maybe this ties in with the RIAA's latest plans (another news item here.)

on slashdot.org a poster points out that one of the purposes of this may be to...

*  Compute a digital fingerprint of played content and check with a Microsoft server to see if it's pirated. This would make the RIAA and MPAA very happy. (Isn't this already being done for audio CDs, to get the title info?)

What do you think?

I don't think I'd be so paranoid about these things if M$ wasn't keeping us all in the dark so much.
