Thomson, one of the makers of mp3 has announced it will be introducing
royalties on streaming mp3 data. Thomson will be asking for %2 of all revenues or a minimum charge of $2000 a year. This means mp3 (and mp3pro to be released on June 14th) will not only be pay to make, but pay to stream. These moves to cut off internet audio from the average joe are making free projects like
Ogg Vorbis (which is free to create and stream) very popular.
