Need help with PPC install in A4000T
« on: September 23, 2003, 04:52:40 AM »
I've installed the P5 CSPPC board in my 4000T, which had an 060 in it already.

When I boot I get an error that "ramlib" has failed and I have to reboot.

Can someone tell me what files I need to install on the 4kt before it will boot?  And where to get them?

Thanx.

Have you installed somthing called '68060.library'.

There is software to install before you install the card.

Remove the motherboard memory. All of it. Leave only the 2MB CHIP Ram SIMM and use the Cyberstorm's SIMM slots to add fast memory. Make sure that the INT/EXT jumpers on A4K motherboard are both set to EXT. Try it out and see what happens.

Its an A4000T, so there is no ChipRAM simm.

Yes, the 060 library is installed, as is the 040 library that points to it.

The clock source jumpers (INT/EXT) are probably correct, because if they aren't, you will get no boot up at all.

As mentioned, the most likely problem is the 68060 CPU library not installed.  You should have been given an install disk with your PPC board, it essentially installs a dummy 68040.library which points to a 68060.library.
If you require the install disk, contact me via email and I can send you an image, or just the CPU libraries required.

Anthony.
