Cannot open "resource.library", version 44
« on: May 18, 2009, 04:06:37 PM »

After installing Image_FX this morning, I lost tons of functionality on my Amiga. Upon reboot, the error message "Cannot open 'resource.library', version 44, unable to open AmiDock.

Can no longer get an Icons 'info' anymore either using Workbench. Even though I chose 'expert installation' and was careful NOT to screw up the version numbers, I thought Image_FX may have overwritten the resource.library and/or other important files. Only way to check a version now is through the CLI and I do indeed have resource.library version 44.103 installed. Re-copied a bunch of other files from LIBS over too, but nothing yet.

Does anyone know what file I need to replace or what's going on here? I've already commented out the changes Image_FX made to my user-startup, but nothing in there looked to be the problem anyway.

Oh... and when I started Image_FX up, it asks me to install 'chooser.gadget'. Guess what? That gadget is already in my Classes:Gadgets folder!

This happens when the OS3.9 ReAction classes get overwritten with older ClassAct versions, although it's usually AWeb that's the culprit. Do you have your old chooser.gadget backed up?

Yep and tried overwriting her. Current chooser.gadget is 45.7. I re-wrote all the gadgets in fact. Workbench.library is version 45.127 also.

-update-

Got desperate and re-installed the entire BB2&3 libs and classes, etc. over whatever Image_FX messed up. Be nice to know exactly which ones they were, but alas - finally got her to work. I know you can change boot priorities and such, but I think I'm going to keep my boot drive *outside* the case and keep a backup on a discrete flashdrive from here on out.

As always, thank you for the help and expertise Matt!  :pint:
