Me too DiskDoctor and I already live here.

I'm a 45yo Technology Architecture Manager (That's IT Infrastructure Architecture) for a large Insurance company in Melbourne, Australia. Previous worklife history comes from Mainframe to Wang VS to Unix(HP-UX and Solaris) and NT-Windows200x.  System Admin from '94 to 2002.

I've used Amiga since 1987 (Housemate's A500)and owned one since 1989 moving to an A2000 from a C128. My first PC was a ZX81.

I have a wife and 3 girls who love playing "Bubble and Squeek"

I've added to my Amiga collection (as below) and obviously prefer the classics because they are. No use trying to teach an old dog how to be a race horse.

Great to hear all your stories.

Some great posts here, guys.  I'm kind of a new guy on Amiga.org, so I'll fill you guys in:

I currently work as a video game programmer at a software company just outside Chicago (USA).  It's not as fun as it sounds--long hours, hectic schedules, etc--but I do enjoy my job.  I've developed titles for the Wii, X360, and PS2.  Most of which you've probably never played or didn't like.   :-P

As for Amigas, I worked all summer in 1989 (freshman in high school) and saved up so I could by an A500.  It was great fun to be able to show all my friends what it could do.  Since then I owned an A3000 which I sold when Commodore went belly up (much to my regret later).  After a long hiatus and a longing for the 'good ole days', I bought an A2500 off (flea)bay.  I had always wanted an A2000, so I've bought it, and it's since become a bit of an obsession.

Other than that, I'm a divorced father with 1 kid (who lives with ME (and calls me a cheapskate) :-) ) who spends too much time thinking about the old times.

Cheers!

Ex Navy, 2 kids, divorced and was once homeless (sorted now). I'm a writer, I was an Administrator for ZetaNews whilst that was running and have performed similar roles on other sites. I am currently retooling with a view to becoming a teacher. In my spare time I write fantasy/sci fi stuff(note to those couple of folks who were interested in my work when I announced it waaay back when - I've picked up Legacy and am slowly but surely releasing more chapters - sorry for the delays).

First got into the amiga in 1992, an A500, have owned an A3000, 1200 and a CD32 although currently I don't own any. Currently I use an eeepc with a 3G wireless broadband connection.
Blessed Be,

I'm in Multimedia Entertainment here (making me a Multimedia Entertainer and|or Creative Artist by name). It encompasses everything I like doing, which ranges from writing (novels, novellas, epic poetry, screenplays, short poetry, short stories, non-fiction, and so on) to art (oil painting, digital art...), philosophy, astrology, metaphysics, and music (I compose and record musing using MIDI, SoundFonts, etc.)

I live in the panhandle of Florida. Last fall I finished my first full-length theatrical screenplay, a Sci-Fi|Horror excursion called Natural Selection, running about 2hrs 9mins. More recently, I completed a Political-Horror (or Dystopian Nightmare) novel in the vein of George Orwell's 1984, weighing in at about 670pages. About to go into 2nd draft mode for that, once another week of plotting is done on my next book (a Sci|Fantasy, or Cosmic Horror novel). I do the art for my own book covers, using Photo-Paint, which I absolutely love. I'm also working on two new screenplays (both Horror, begun last fall).

When not doing that, I paint oil paintings, work a bit on my OS project, work on my music project (an original orchestral score related to one of my novels and screenplays), or watch movies. I love movies. :-D

I post some art in my myspace profile, so anyone who likes art can see some there.
