hmm..
IDEfix reports scanning 0-7? so does it show an ID numebr for the CDrom?
if not, do you know what ID the drive is set to?

i take it you're using devicefinder in the idefix package, selecting scsi.device and its not showing anything?

A500, A600, A1200x3, A2000, A3000, A4000 & a CD32.
and probably just like the rest of you, crates full of related "treasure" for the above XD

Assuming you set your scsi cdrom ID properly it should work without problems.  Ensure you set the jumper for SCSI ID.  Any issues you may experience may be due to old firmware (6.6, 6.1 etc).   I can offer you firmware upgrade to 7.0 - email for details.

The version 7 ROM fixes the following bugs in the 6.6 ROM
- >1GB HD support
- DMA reselection bug fixed
- disconnect/reconnect performance improved a lot
- Sync messages are handled
- Error handling improved
- Sync problems with Seagate/Syquest fixed
- Removable media recognition fixed
- Slow boot jumper now does a 15 second wait plus 300ms scan :-D

Getting a SCSI search program to recognise the device exists is one thing. Asking AmigaOS to treat it as a useable drive is another. Have you tried renaming the icon of the device driver? AND/OR... Get icon info and change the Device ID in the tooltypes section to whatever the SCSI ID is...

Save of course and then double click the CDx: and your CD drive will spin up, looking for contents! Only Amiga makes this difficult   :-)   lol

perhaps the problem is no CD driver?
asimcdfs is one option if you still cannot get your cdrom drive to work.
