USB to expresscard adapter

i order a express card to CF card adapter,but ended up with a USB to express card adapter.

does anyone know if any of this type of card is compatible with the amiga?


on another note is there any 16 bit GSM pcmcia card that is compatible with the amiga?

Heh.

Firstly you're not going to be able to plug an Express card directly into  an Amiga are you.

Besides, when you've finished adapting/regressing the Express card to the PCMCIA on an Amiga you'll still require drivers to "talk" with the device you're trying to use.

As regards to any 16 bit GSM pcmcia cards that are compatible with the Amiga you'll need to cross reference the available devices and drivers supported:

Express Card is one lane (1x) of PCIe (PCI Express) and one USB 2.0 port.  The majority of Express Card peripherals I have seen only make use of the USB 2.0 port, with the exception of some drive interfaces and Firewire card, which do make use of the PCIe lane.

Given that, I would think it is *possible*, though perhaps not likely, that you could use an Express Card device with the Amiga via USB.

Long shot, though. :-)

i recived the wrong card,so it will be going back.

it has USB at one end and you plug in express card devices in the other.

@LoadWB: Would be cool. You need quite a meaty CPU for handling USB on the Amiga I believe.

It might be possible to get a 16-bit GSM PCMCIA card working with either pccardserial.device or pcmser.device and the right AT commands.

That page is only really useful for network cards. The modem section is empty.

i was thinking more in-line of if possible a GSM card which takes a sim card which connects direct to a mobile network.

better still a GSM/3G but most if not all will be cardbus.

Aren't there mobile phones that work as modems when connected to a serial port? Seems like that would be much, much less work than tracking down an appropriate 16-bit PCMCIA card.

not a bad idea if possible,connect a mobile phones to the internal A1200 motherboard serial port.

or get hold of a GSM/3G notebook internal card
