Installing a Picasso II in an Amiga 4000D with OS3.9
« on: January 27, 2009, 06:33:52 PM »
I've recently purchased a Picasso II from ebay.  I found drivers PicassoII.121, 22, 24 and Picasso96.  The only one that works is the 121.  Picasso96 doesn't work at all and causes the Amiga to crash.  Version 22 and 24 work until you reboot and then the background is scrambled and the icons sometimes don't show up until you click on them.  If you open a few icons the amiga freezes.  I have looked all over the net for help, but came up with nothing.

Amiga 060 MKII 128Mb, 16MRam Oktagon2008 SCSI, OS3.9

Your card may be jumpered to segmented mode which makes P96 to crash.

I tried it in both positions.  If I put it in segmented mode, the video is scrambled.  I have the jumper off.  Btw this is the 2Meg version.

Here is the deal with P96.  I go into the utility and attach the board to the driver.  I test the modes and everything looks great from the utility.  When I go into screenmode and select it and test, it is all scrambled.

After I have tried all these drivers and uninstalled them, I cannot even see my workbench modes like super72, productivity, etc and they are in the devs drawer and not storage.

I have thought that maybe since this is a ZII and the Oktagon 2008 is a ZII they are conflicting.  Only problem, my SCSI drive is the boot drive so I can't remove it.

They conflict if you have 8 MB on the Oktagon (it's the max it can have).

I have memory on the Oktagon but I wanna say 4Meg.  I would have to look, but I can just pull the chips on it and see.  I have 148M of Fast Mem.  16 + 128+ 4 = 148 if memory serves me.

Any idea why P96 would look great under the  utility test but scrambled under screenmode test?
