Floppy Drive Problem
« on: December 10, 2008, 10:05:59 PM »
My A1200 tower project has been completed but having problems getting WB 3.1 to install from floppy. Same old story floppy disk problems.

The main issue is I boot with Install disk and when it ask for say the workbench disk it does not load - no disk activity at all. What this means is that I must boot with floppy in to get it to see it. I guess it is not registering the disk insertion from the floppy drive.

I have managed to get WB 3.1 installed manually but this would be something I need to get fixed. I would appreciate any help.

Thank You  :-?  :-?  :-?

Sometimes the little pins (just inside the slot) on the floppy drives stick. A good clean up and removal of dust and debri could help

A software solution is opening a CLI window on the workbench ( then type "newshell") and issue this command every time you to change the disk inside the floppy unit:

 "Diskchange DF0:" (no quotes)

If you had buy a new unit for your tower, then most likely it is not compatible with your Amiga at all.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Yes, I would be interested in your floppy drive; what do you have? How much? Trade you? I have a imac, A2000 mobo and many other items. Just joking on the imac but I do have one.  :-D  :-D  :-)
