So considering I have an A500+ can I do anything to solve the flickering? I saw on eBay some flicker fixers but do not know if they are related!

No need for flickerfixers or anything! You can do what I did if you have an ECS amiga (500+): buy an Amiga 1438 monitor (or a Microvitec 1438, it's the same) and use HighGFX from aminet. You can have resolutions up to 1024x768 (with flickering) or 1024x384 WITHOUT flickering which is quite acceptable I believe! But remember, this can be done only with an A500+, not with an A500!

This is the one I like most :) What are the numbers behind the 'S' for this model? Because as I said there are many variants of the 1084S!

Thanks again,

The S means you get the stereo sound

No, not with a 1084. You need a 'multiscan' monitor that supports 15-31KHz. The 1438 is probably the cheapest of this kind - and one of the few that you can still find.

Right, to clear it all up:"

1080 (A1000 style)
1081 (brick model, nice dark tube!)
1084 (most common model, brick model like the 1081, powerbutton on the front)
1084s (same as above but with two speakers)
1084s-D1 (newer model, power button on the back)
1084s-D2 (newer model, white casing to match A600/A1200)

Considering the time line, the only "original" model monitor to go with the A500+ would be the 1084s-D1.

If you want to go MultiSync the model you'd be looking for is the 1950.
The 1960 is a newer model; also in the A600/A1200/A4000 colour. The 1438/1538/1764 are all later models from the Amiga Technologies era. (rebranded Microvitek monitors)

Hi again,

I bought the 1084s (I hope D1 and not D2) monitor from Germany. I do not know if it will turn on or not when it arrives. However I wanted to ask something. Is there anything to keep in mind before connecting it to my A500+? Also could I just change the plug from the Germany 2-pin style to the UK 3-pin style? In Malta (the country I live in) electricity plugs is the same as that in the UK, i.e. - 3-pin.

Regards,

Hi,

Wanted to ask another thing about the 1084s. In some photos (like this one: http://www.amiga-hardware.com/display_photos/10842sd1_1_sm.jpg) the front door has a small elevation on it, while in other photos (like this one: http://www.amigau.com/aig/newa500.jpg) the front door does not have this elevation. Does this mean anything?

Thanks and Regards,
Sim085
