Can an A500 be 100% converted yto A500+ ?

Hi,

I was wondering if I had (which I dont) an A500 could I convert it to become a 100% A500+?

I know about upgrading the ROM chip, but what about Chip Memory and Battery? Also are there any big differences in the motherboard between the two?

I am asking this just out of curiosity. From the research I did it seems that Commodore wanted to introduce the A500+ as an intermediary step before introducing the A1200 so that software development techniques could be improved. However was there more to this?

Yes. You need KS 2.x, 0.5 MB trapdoor expansion (or chip addition onto the mobo on later revisions), Denise 8373, Megachip 2 or equivalent and mobo jumper work, depending on the revision. Just what I've done years ago.

mmm .. that is interesting to know What is Megachip 2? and what do you mean by mobo jumper work? Also are there any articles written on this?

Ok I understand Thank you. It is nice to know that an A500 cab be upgraded up to an A500+. My cousin has an A500 (I have the A500+) and maybe he would be interested to upgrade it one day

I bought a working A500+ motherboard for 5 quid from ebay...

That would be the easiest upgrade!
