Way to tell between OS3 and 3.1?
« on: November 16, 2008, 08:13:48 PM »
Hi all, I just got a A2000HD system in and was wondering how to tell between OS3 and 3.1?
workbench says 38.35
kickstart 37.210

I assume it is just 3.0. any official lists?

Perhaps not the easiest way to find out but it works  ;-)

Disconnect your HD and switch on machine. Eventually the startup screen will show you what Roms you've got fitted.

 Nope, this is WB2.1.

 WB3.0 is 39.106.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Well, I took it apart and it did indeed have the 1.3 Rom still, so I put my 3.1 Rom. I guess I have to update the ROMS on the A2091 Card if I want it to work with 3.1, so I removed the card and put in my A4008 card with OS 3.1 already installed.
I know this sounds crazy, but I am also putting in my Budda Card just to run the CD -ROM until I can get a hold of a Scsi CD-Rom

Only WB2.1 has the same appearance as Wb3.0, older WB2.x releases has a black title bar

Similar, but not the same.

With 2.x the screen's title bar is black with grey text and the scroll bars in Workbench windows are white.

With 3.x the title bar is white with black text and a small shadow. The scroll bars have a 3D look.

Also Kick 2.0 initialises the display from dark grey to white (just like Kick 1.3) while with Kick 3.0 the boot display is all black.

If you are used to 3.x you'll recognise 2.x at first sight (and vice versa).

Bye,
Thomas
