Do you mean AmigaOS 2.x, or IBM OS/2? :-)

install MUI and IBrowse?

There's also AWeb & Voyager.  Can't think of any others.  First of all though you need something like MUI/ClassAct/Reaction to provide the GUI toolkit necessary for apps like these to run.

Presumably you've got a hard disk in the machine you intend to web browse with?

Well there is7was also AMosaic the oldest of them all.

It did come with unexpanded A1200, meaning it ran on 3.1, making it the most likely
candidate to run on 2.x.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

The machine is a A3000 with RTG (using EGS, damn that is a unstable system) 17GB IDE disk (on the Xsurf's IDE connector using loads of little 2GB partitions) a 250MB SCSI HDD to boot from and on wich resides SYS: and Work:  an Xsurf for Ethernet and 12MB of RAM.

I tried to use iBrowse, but it insisted on Kick3.1.

try to get AMosaic 1.2. I've been searching for a OS 2.x-Browser a while ago, and it was only one I've found. It doesn't display graphics, but the the HTML layout is quite ok. For anything other (except Lynx) you need OS 3.x !

@ locutus

I've just checked that even IB2.3 (the best Amiga browser ATM) works with 3.0 ROMs.

Anyway i've used for years, IB2.2 with 3.0 ROMs.

Which message is shown on IB startup?

Ciao

-EDIT- IBrowse REQUIRES AMIGAOS 3.0+

OS/2  is actually still alive.. Amazing as that might seem..  It's still being updated and sold by an IBM vendor as  "Ecomm Station" it's new name (looks like the BeOS people had something to do with it's naming). Mozilla (aka Netscape) has been ported to it...

Check out ecomm station aka OS2 for further information. I think there are even some screen shots with browsers there. It still have a limited Win32 api too..

As far as I recall, AMosaic did run under 2.x, but wouldn't show pictures (no datatypes?).  It's been a long time!

Good luck,
Mike
