The ultimate combination (AGA/GFX)
« on: August 27, 2003, 05:43:55 PM »
...I'm quite qurious about what the ultimate solution for using both AGA/GFX-card on one and the same monitor is...

I haven't really managed to get it straight what is needed and what is a good combination...

A scandoubler, yes, but is a monitorswitch needed as well? Like using DCE ScanMagic ff together with BMon, or the like?

As far as I've managed to reach in my research I have yet to find a solution which actually automatically switches from AGA to the GFX-cards output witouth manually doing anything...

(and this is concerning an A1200 boxed in a Mirage Tower with a Voodoo card installed).
Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.

My Picasso II claims to pass through the amigas video whenever a native screen is displayed, but I haven't put it in my amiga yet so I'm not sure how well it works.

legerdemain: buy a tvcard and put aga/ecs output into tv card and activate passtrough function on tv card (in voodoo icon) ..will work but quality will diffrent from card to card.

Put a TV card in the Mediator (I used a WinTV GO! which cost about £20), connect A1200 composite video out to composite video-in on the TV card, and there you go.

@lempkee

Oh yes the Picasso2 would also offer that in an A1200, cos it has an VGA-input.
where you could connect your AGA-ouput to (via FF if you want to see the 15khz-modes).

Same goes for the Picollo/Spektrum, the CV,CV64 and some others.

Picasso4 and CV64-3D are a differnt matter so.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

...but what about fullscreen, sharpness e.t.c.? Will I be able to see 320*200 screen in full on the monitor without any boring black borders?

@kronos

Yeh I intend to feed the amiga signal back in after it's been through my sd/ff.
