buddha success! but more questions
« on: October 02, 2008, 01:04:00 AM »
So it appears that the buddha is working.  (thanks chris!) The disk is currently formatting.  At this point, the problem I've been having was either that it didn't like the cdrom drive I installed along with it, or it didn't like the extra long ide cable I was using.  probably the latter.

I put a 20gig ide drive in the machine.  It was the smallest I had.  I was expecting to be limited to 4gig partitions, maybe having to make 5 4gig partitions.  Instead, it limited me to two 1.3gig partitions.  Why?  Maybe I need a higher workbench version?  I have 2.1 roms, maybe that's the limitation also.  I was planning an os upgrade.  And 2.6 gigs on an amiga is ridiculous anyway.

Is there a good tower case hack for the 2000?  I had planned to put 4 extra drives in another case on top of the 2000 and run long ribbon cables between them.  The long cable doesn't work though.  So I can cut holes in the case to feed cables through.  I could switch to an ide/compact flash drive at tape it to the inside of the case and ditch the scsi hard drives.  That solves the cdrom and disk, but not the two extra floppies.  I'm willing to butcher the extra case, but I hesitate before cutting a 2000 case cover.  :-O   I think I'm creating a monster.
