Battery leak repair
« on: July 29, 2008, 03:57:08 AM »
I have removed a leaking battery from a A3000.  Everything is still running fine, but there was some acid on the board.  I soaked it with a backing soda paste and clean it up, but there is still a blue residue.  Do I need to remove it also, or is it a by product.

I cleaned mine up with isopropyl rubbing alcohol and q-tips.  Took a few minutes but it got all the crap off eventually.  That 3000 is still working today as far as I know, and I cleaned it off sometime in the mid '90s.

Not a by product at all.

To remove it, first use lemon juice (soft acid), then use iso alcohol to clean, gently remove the blue oxidized residue.

After all clean and in bright condition, use some varnish (or clear lacquer) to not leave the traces in contact with air (who will cause future oxidation).
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

IIRC, you shouldn't have used baking soda, I think it only makes matters worse.
Better sorry than worry.
