SCSI CDRW for AMiga
« on: October 18, 2003, 02:47:06 AM »
I have a SCSI CDRom drive in my Amiga 3KT, but I
want to exchange it for a CDRW drive. Which ones
work well with Amiga, and are supported by the
 most CD Burning Software titles?

Oh and what Burning Software is recommended?

Thanks

I started with an old Yamaha that was 4x2x6 but it got very warm in my case and I read there used to be issues with some of the Yamahas.

I replaced it with a much quicker scsi Teac CD-W512SB version 1.0c (I believe the firmware is up to "k" now) which I got for around $100 a short while ago.  Its about as quick as you need for an Amiga I think.

I use it with MakeCD.  Asimware's old Cd burning product is no longer distributed or supported.  I don't know the status of Burnit but I think you can still register MakeCD.

Sincerely,

I recommend Plextor drives--here's their latest offering: http://www.plextor.com/english/products/40_12_40s.html. They also have a wide range of older new and refurbished products.

I don't use my Amiga to burn CDs, so I'll leave it to someone else to make a software suggestion.
