PCI and PCI-e design spec.
« on: June 30, 2008, 10:33:18 PM »
If I understand correctly it costs 3000.00 US a year to get the specs. from www.pcisig.org .
How can Amiga.org get this info. as a group?
edit:
Is there another way to get this info?
edit:
Maybe not as an A.org group, but a group of individuals.
 :-D

I don't know about you, I I don't plan on building a PCI or PCI-E device any time soon... I suspect Wayne isn't either...

No, but the specification is useful if you want to write software for such devices.

The specification is pretty easy to find. A number of universities have it published publicly. Google is your friend.

Yeah. That said, don't go selling or advertising custom PCI devices without paying the piper. They're not like the MPAA or RIAA, but you still might get stuck with a cease and desist order. Or maybe that just applies to the official PCI logos.

AFAIK it's just if you want to use the Logos and get certified... i.e. you can't declare that you are PCI/PCI-E compatible without their blessing.. but that doesn't stop you from implementing the spec...
