Just found an AM33C93A-16PC chip on an ISA SCSI adapter. I suppose it's compatible with the WD33C93 flavor - is the AMD any good / any better than my A3000's original one labeled PROTO? What's the minimum rev to get sync SCSI with Kick 3.1?

    They are 100% interchangeable. The AMD33C93 is supposedly the same as a rev.8 WD33C93, or at the very least it has had the most crippling bugs fixed.

    Apparently it doesn't matter whether your WD33C93 says PROTO on it or not; all that matters is the revision number.

Great - then I'm going to get a rev 8 after all (hopefully)! Thanks for the info.

The present chip just says WD33C93A-PL PROTO, so I suppose it's an early rev.

What brand/model of ISA card did you see this chip on?

It's a Dawicontrol DC-93 "Mach 1", the -193 and -293 should be very similar.

Did you try it on your Amiga? How does it work? Is it really compatible with the WD33C93?

Not yet - I'm currently working on resurrecting a PowerMac 9500 (already working nicely, but waiting for more RAM and a Crescendo PCI G4/1000 card) - but I will keep you posted. All I could find on the net indicates that it's a clone chip, the pinout is identical.
