Amiga-4000-040 Vs Amiga-1200-030

I have to go against the flow, and say the 4000 is the best computer.  I've owned three A1200s, and one 4000.  The 4000 has been more stable, for sure.  The 4000 is also worth more on the market, as they can use the Video Toaster.

Sure... It does cost more to fix an A4000 than it does an A1200... But, honestly, at this stage....  Why are you fixing either one???  It's cheaper to buy a replacement than it is to try to fix.

At least for myself, I'm open to offers on any computer in my collection... Except my 4000.  period.  Granted, a lot of that is sentimental value, but I honestly think it was the best Amiga.

A while ago, I was in the market for a second-hand Amiga, and noone was selling A4000s, only A1200s.

Even offering silly amounts of money (still less than a new machine...) afforded only interest by A1200 sellers.

You can set a price on an A4000, the A1200s price is set by the market.

IMHO.

A lot of people are saying the A4000 is better, but remember Elbox released a very cheap PCI busboard for A1200's about a month ago..

Only 138 EURO .. then you can put a pretty kick ass graphics card in, and a cheap 16bit sound card.

Though, the A4000's have less hacks, and they have a faster PowerPC solution, if you wanted to go down that road.

Couldn't agree more... Working on a A4000 tower solution with 4 PCI's, 2 GFX's, 6 Z3's. :-D

To destro I'd like to say that both systems got possibilities so you need to ask yourself if you want to have an easier time uppgrading and a neater table but at the cost of $ or if you are happy with hacks and cables all stuff outside the computer. But if I was you I'd keep both, at least to you self know what system it is you can live without. :-)
