AMIGA keyboard questions.. can we get replacement keys?
« on: April 26, 2008, 09:37:10 PM »
Hi,

Is there anyway to get replacement keyboard keys for say an Amiga 1200. I'm hoping that whoever manufactured the AMIGA keyboard woould have just used the same tooling from one of their own PC keyboards, eliminating the huge cost of tooling all those keys.

Given Commodores "creativity" with cost reduction techniques this would make sense.

Has anyone ever tinkered with "like" keyboards to see if a cheap PC keyboard offers direct plug in replacements for Amiga keys?

Also as a side note. I'm drawing up a custom keyboard decal sheet and will test out the durability in the coming weeks. If ayone has ever wanted to paint their keyboard keys black but were turned off by the prospect of labeling the keys I may have a solution.

I bought a new internal Amiga 1200 keyboard last month from AmigaKit -- beautiful white keys to replace the numerous yellowed keys on my original keyboard.

Parts from the removed 1200 original keyboard were then used to repair two other Amiga keyboards.
