As of June this year ebay.com.au will only allow you to pay for items in one of two ways:

Cash on pickup
Paypal

Its time for an australian craigslist, evilbay's days in this country are numbered.

Yeah. It sucks hard. I'm out of eBay now. I've found an Aussie auction site called OZtion. I'll be using them from now on. Though I will miss eBay's reach. I've never found an auction site with as much vintage computer gear as them, but I cannot allow myself to use eBay any more. This move of theirs is greed pure and simple. Since eBay own Paypal this is blatant double dipping. Sellers are going to pass the extra fees onto the buyers by inflating the P&H costs, you can count on it.

There have been several complaints to the ACCC about this move. People are saying this breaks the third line forcing regs, but since eBay own Paypal it doesn't break any regulations. Now we know why eBay fought tooth and nail to acquire Paypal. You just watch, eBay will be trying to acquire a freight company next, if they haven't already, so they can force sellers to only use their freight services too. Mark my words.

Hi... it's easy to say ebay is bad (I now more reason why is BAD not only the prices...)

Trouble with ebay is that there are people with "cash" who just buy the stuff... and than SELL for HUGE money. I think some of the don't even touch the stuff.

Trouble with me "I don't have" money but I like Amiga. Bad combination? Yes. I know.

For me ebay is only one "safe" way to sell stuff or buy it.

I was in all thrift stores in town... once I found old Mac ;) for $10 (no monitor) no Amiga's.

But you gave me idea I will ask in newspapers, maybe some lack.

It would be good to find a A1200 motherboard since mine is getting to be "old" (anybody has new one ;)? ), I have one more "replacement" but...

Wait until eBay start enforcing Paypal use in your country then tell me it's not bad. It really isn't easy to say 'eBay is bad'. In fact I find it very hard to say. Especially since I have relied on eBay so much in the last 10 years as both seller and buyer. Up to this change in policy, I've been very happy with eBay's services, despite the hike in fees. But I just cannot see eBay's move to enforce Paypal as anything but greed. A month or two ago, the eBay CEO was saying that bad deals on eBay were minimal and that they represented a small part of the eBay experience. I actually agreed with that. I have yet to have an overwhelmingly bad experience on eBay. However, this month eBay are saying that the Paypal enforcement is to increase security and protect customers. One month they're saying everything is okay, the next they're saying they need to introduce new security measures to protect the customer. What a crock.

Don't mistake my view. I don't think Paypal is necessarily a bad thing. In fact I think it's a good thing for people who choose to use it, but 'choose' is the operative word. eBay has sneaked around the third line forcing laws by buying Paypal, but it may not be enough. The ACCC is reviewing eBay's new policy for legality. I can only hope that the ACCC wont allow eBay to extort more fees from already fee laden customers.

Ebay do have their own parcel company, www.parcel2go.com.

It uses DHL and FEDex.

Its prices are very reasonable though.
