Boing Bag 3?
« on: April 06, 2008, 06:25:15 AM »
I saw on some german site someone's sig and they had their Amiga specs, and on there was OS 3.9 BB3.  What is that, just some self patching and promotion of some non existent BB update?
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

:flame:

BB3 seems to be a bedroom effort to 'finish' OS3.9. It's non official. Have a look at the BB3 page for more info.

If you look at the Dates you will see that this effort has been dead for years.  It was a nice try but the guy lost interest fast.

Dead for years but still very much valid information as to what is out of date on the OS3.9 CD.

The page is still a cool pointer towards what you could update if you felt the need to.

Shame it's not a Wiki page so people can keep it upto date.

AmiKit also have a list of the most important post BB2 updates:

http://amikit.amiga.sk/patches.htm

It is a shame that no-one has tried to create a "AmigaOS update" website in a similar style to Windows Update etc. where a small tool runs on the host, checks versions of files and then provides links to download newer versions.

Or a way to "Slipstream" the new files onto their OS3.9 CD.

Like AmiUpdate?  It's OS4 only though.

Exactly.

I reinstall so often that slipstreaming would be good too.

The problem I see with an automatic update system is that the flexibility of the Amiga OS makes it difficult to track-down all the files installed. Not impossible, but difficult.
